Timedoor Signs MOU with Indonesian Conglomerate MNC University to Establish the Industry-First “Japan AI Business Department”

Training Indonesian AI Business Talent Who Can Speak Japanese

Timedoor (Headquarters: Bali, Indonesia; CEO: Yutaka Tokunaga) signed an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with MNC University, a private university in Indonesia, on October 1, 2025 to create a new 4-year program called the “Japan AI Business Department”. The signing ceremony took place on the same day.

This program will teach young, talented students in Indonesia business Japanese at the JLPT N2-N3 level (Japanese language proficiency test) and practical digital business skills, such as using AI, that are needed in business today. Students will also get the chance to participate in volunteer activities in rural areas of Indonesia and hands-on study tours in Japan to have life-changing experiences.

After graduation, students will work for Japanese companies or Japanese companies in Indonesia. They will contribute by being skilled workers who can connect and transform both Japan and Indonesia.

The Background

The world is at a major turning point in population and job markets.

Indonesia is currently in a “demographic bonus” period, where there are many young people. However, the number of job openings is not keeping up with the increase in university graduates, leading to youth unemployment becoming a social issue.

On the other hand, Japan is facing a serious labor shortage because of its aging population. To improve international competitiveness, Japan needs to train and secure global talent. Many Japanese companies are also behind in digital transformation and globalization, so they need people who understand AI, digital business, and who can work in multicultural and multilingual environments.

Given these circumstances, the Japan AI Business Department was created as a solution to the problems in both Indonesia and Japan, connecting Indonesia’s potential with Japan’s needs.

Future Plans

We are currently working on creating the curriculum, finding partner companies, and recruiting talent to launch the program in October 2026. We will also use MNC Group’s media network to promote the program and start recruiting students.
